Macau (MNA) – Supplier of video surveillance products and solutions Hikvision Digital Technology Co., Ltd. told Macau News Agency (MNA) that it expects “hopefully very soon” to provide its services to the Macau SAR.

Speaking to MNA, Hikvision staff at the MGS Summit 2017 – the gaming industry event being held in Venetian Cotai Expo until Thursday – said they are not currently providing any services to the city.

On MGS Summit’s opening day on Tuesday, the company’s Regional Technical Manager, Chuck Chen, delivered a speech under the theme Smart City, Safe City, Smart Video Technology. The speech was delivered immediately after the Alibaba Cloud regional head gave his talk.

Both companies were founded in Hangzhou and have their plans intertwined in the smart city drive spreading from China to the rest of the world, and reaching Macau and Hong Kong.

“We see a more safer one,” the staff at Hikvision’s stand said on Wednesday when asked about how they see the Macau SAR and every city with smart technologies in the next five years.

The company, whose stand at MGS Summit faces Alibaba’s, explained to MNA that their cameras can scan data from different sources such as car plates or faces patterns, and connect them to data-centres in order to obtain related services.

Hikvision claims it has implemented its products and services in more than a hundred countries.
