Milestone Systems Receives Awards For Innovative Open Platform Video Projects And Products

Milestone Systems, the open platform company in IP video management software (VMS), has recently received awards for XProtect access control integration and for its role in two large-scale security projects: University of West Scotland and Navicent Health (formerly known as the Medical Center of Central Georgia). Furthermore, Milestone has again been noted in A&S Magazine’s annual Security 50 rankings, advancing four places from 2013.

Milestone won a “Highly Commended Access Control Product Award” from Detektor International at the Skydd 2014 trade show in Sweden, for the Milestone XProtect® Access Control Module. The judges commented: ”Milestone Systems aims to unite access control and video in this innovative, purpose-designed integration interface allowing for global third-party interoperability. It’s a great contribution toward a more open access control market.”

The IFSEC ‘Security & Fire Excellence Award 2014 for Security Project or Installation of the Year’ was given to Milestone partner Boston Networks whose solution for the University of the West of Scotland is based on XProtect® Expert VMS with Axis network cameras. The industry-leading technology coupled with the professional consultancy, design and deployment services from Boston Networks has increase security at the university. Enhanced image quality from the advanced Axis digital cameras and the Milestone XProtect Expert open platform IP VMS handle HD-quality footage with a powerful interface to efficiently control the multi-campus surveillance in a single, uniform, centralized system.

Security Technology Executive magazine in collaboration with Secured Cities and the Security Industry Association (SIA) has recognized the Milestone partner Tech Systems Inc. with a Security Innovation Award for the project done at Navicent Health in Georgia, USA.

The implementation includes more than 500 IP and analog cameras and integration with S2 Security’s S2 Enterprise access control system and Code Blue emergency phones. The infant protection system HUGS from Stanley Healthcare Solutions is also interoperable with the XProtect networked video management platform to facilitate more efficient first-response by the security staff. The total solution has also improved service levels, as the medical facility can monitor with better overview the arrival of ambulances and bed availabilities.

Milestone advanced four places in Asmag’s Global Security Web list of “Top Security 50 companies.” This is the fourth time in a row Milestone has been ranked as one of the top security industry players by the website for the Messe Frankfurt family of A&S magazines.
