Singapore – The Society of Interior Designers Singapore (SIDS) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
As Singapore’s leading professional body for the industry, SIDS aims to uplift and elevate the interior design industry to the highest possible level of professionalism and integrity. By nurturing and promoting excellent design, SIDS endeavours to shape the future of the industry, profession and design.
Sharing the Society’s direction for the next chapter, Mr Tung Ching Yew, President of SIDS says, “SIDS sets its sights on a bold 30-year direction aimed at advancing Singapore’s interior designers to prominence on the international platform. Through the establishment of a lifelong learning platform, we aspire to continually nurture and empower local interior designers. We also aim to position the Society as a leading governing body, actively shaping policies and regulations governing the practice of interior design. We look forward with optimism to building stronger communities through the incredible impact of interior design.”
To commemorate this milestone, SIDS announced a number of initiatives and activities throughout the year.
Singapore Interior Design Awards (SIDA) 2024
In its 8th edition, SIDA 2024 is an annual competition organised by SIDS aimed to recognise exceptional projects and practitioners in the design industry worldwide. Submission entries is ongoing until 2 August 2024. The winners will be announced later this year in November.

Singapore’s 30 Influential Spatial / Interior Designers Award
To recognise local interior design trailblazers who have shaped the design landscape in Singapore and beyond, SIDS is launching Singapore’s 30 Influential Spatial / Interior Designers Award. The award celebrates remarkable contributions and achievements of 30 outstanding professionals in the field of spatial and interior design.
Key schedule:
- Submission is open from now until 31 December 2024
- Judging period: January to February 2025
- Winner announcement: March 2025 (date to be confirmed, details to be announced on the website)

Inaugural SIDA Youth Excellent Award
SIDS is pleased to announce a new student bursary programme, SIDA Youth Excellence Award, for students enrolled in spatial design courses in local institutes of higher learnings (IHLs) recognised by the Ministry of Education. The inaugural award will see three students awarded SGD 3,000 each. The annually awarded bursary hopes to support and cultivate the next generation of talents who would be joining the interior design workforce upon graduation.

Singapore Interior Design Festival (SIDFest) 2024
An annual festival organised by SIDS, SIDFest is a vibrant platform for celebrating creativity, culture, and collaboration within the design community. Through a series of curated events, workshops, exhibitions, and design installations over two weeks, the festival promotes meaningful connections, spark dialogues, and showcases the transformative power of design in shaping the built environment. It brings together designers, industry professionals, students, and design enthusiasts to explore emerging trends and celebrate the richness of Singapore’s design landscape.
One of the highlights of the festival this year is a trade mission trip to Jakarta, Indonesia, in collaboration with Indonesian Society of Interior Designers (Himpunan Desainer Interior Indonesia, HDII) and Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID).
