Volvo Trucks offers a wide range of construction-specific solutions for the global market. All the vehicles have been designed to provide high TCO (total cost of ownership) through excellent fuel efficiency, resale value and aftermarket services, said the company.
The FH and FMX are two of the preferred models in the construction industry, according to Volvo Trucks. They are available in multiple configurations to meet different market needs and can be used in the toughest applications.
The trucks feature a large capacity body for greater productivity, as well as a powerful and fuel-efficient engine paired with matching driveline. They are also equipped with the I-Shift transmission for heavy-duty applications, and Volvo Connect – a digital interface that helps delivers more profitable transport operation.
Japan calling
Volvo Trucks recently showcased its FH and FMX models at the CSPI-Expo 2023 in Tokyo, targeting the Japanese construction industry. In this market, the company revealed that it will compete in the premium European sector with a product that maximises productivity.
The FH 4x2 and FMX 8x4 trucks were on display at the event. Volvo Trucks reported strong interest in these models, as construction contractors increasingly seek out productivity gains and operator-friendly equipment in such a competitive market.

The Volvo FH truck exhibited at the CSPI-Expo was configured in 4x2 drive with a new Volvo engine that provides optimum levels of energy efficiency. It has improved fuel efficiency and uses a high-quality filter for excellent performance. The vehicle also offers productivity improvements both in environmental impact and cost, added Volvo Trucks. And with its ultra-low speed cruise control and dual clutch and crawler gears, this model is ideally suited to the construction sector.
Meanwhile, the Volvo FMX truck at the event was shown in 8x4 drive. This is a highly practical and robust truck that performs in even the toughest construction jobs, said Volvo Trucks. Its design ensures that performance and operator comfort are maintained in the harshest conditions.
Customers have a choice of two cabs: a day cab at standard height for their everyday use, and a low cab with overnight facilities for applications such as more remote operations. There is also an optional 38T rear axle to increase payload by up to 20% on the 8x4 chassis.
