bauma China is preparing for its next edition, to be held from 27 to 30 November 2018 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). Taking up 300,000 sq m of exhibition space, it is deemed the biggest construction industry trade show in Asia and one of the biggest in the world.
“The current demand for exhibition space exceeds our expectations,” said Stefan Rummel, managing director of Messe München, the show organiser. As of early May 2018, the trade show already attracted 2,200 exhibitors - 300 companies more than in the equivalent period in 2016.
“The entire area of the Shanghai New International Expo Centre -17 halls and the outdoor area - will again be completely occupied,” said Maritta Lepp, bauma China’s exhibition director. Some exhibitors already asked for larger booth spaces than with the previous edition, she added.
As in the previous years, the upcoming bauma China is likely to attract well-known companies from not only China but also other parts of Asia and the rest of the world. It will see several major players returning, including Volvo Construction Equipment and Caterpillar. In addition, various countries - Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, Turkey and the US - will present themselves with joint stands. According to the organiser, the joint stands would help small and medium-sized companies to find cooperation partners and enter this large market.
Ms Lepp also anticipates a similarly high number of visitors as in 2016. In that year, around 170,000 professionals from Asian countries visited bauma China, where 2,958 exhibitors from 41 countries presented their products and innovations. The show took place for the first time in 2002 and is held every two years.
