Preparations for bauma China 2020, which will take place from 24 to 27 November in Shanghai, are in full swing, announced Messe München. The organiser said the show draws more than 2,800 exhibitors and will occupy all 17 halls plus the outdoor area at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), covering a total of 300,000 sq m of exhibition space.
“Despite the challenging circumstances, many international companies have been looking for ways to exhibit again this year,” said Messe München. “For example, companies with subsidiaries or dealers in China are planning to have their Chinese colleagues on site in case employees cannot travel from Europe, the US, Korea, Japan etc.”
According to Messe München, some major international exhibitors that will be participating in bauma China include Bauer Maschinen GmbH, Bosch Rexroth Hydraulics & Automation, Caterpillar, Herrenknecht and Volvo Construction Equipment. In addition, there will be three international joint stands – from Germany, Italy, and Spain – that account for 73 exhibitors and an area of over 1,800 sq m.
Exhibitors are set to present products that meet tomorrow’s challenges, focusing on smart and low-emission machines, electromobility and remote-control technology. Messe München also noted that due to Covid-19, bauma China will see a predominantly Chinese audience, expecting around 130,000 visitors to attend.
‘Strict health and safety rules onsite’
“The health and safety of exhibitors, visitors and partners will continue to be a top priority,” stressed Messe München. “The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Industries Association have published regulations and guidelines for exhibition organisers on the prevention and control of the epidemic, and these will be strictly observed during the show.”
The organiser added, “To ensure a safe and orderly event, various control and security measures and venue-sanitation regulations will be effectively implemented, appropriate onsite medical services will be provided, and all participants will be required to register online.”
The Chinese government has reportedly taken numerous steps to strengthen economic development, and initial successes are becoming apparent. According to the government, China´s gross domestic product grew again by 3.2% in the second quarter after the coronavirus-related upheavals in the first quarter. A relaxed monetary policy and strong investment in infrastructure, consumption and healthcare are aimed at strengthening economic activity for the rest of the year.
Messe München further highlighted the outlook of the Chinese construction industry, mentioning that based on the latest report by Off-Highway Research, stimulus spending in China is expected to drive a 14% increase in construction equipment sales in the country in 2020.
“This makes China the only major country to see growth in equipment sales this year. Therefore, there is a strong imperative for the construction and mining machinery industry to re-launch business in China. In addition, there is a desire among industry players to meet again in person, to exchange information and network. bauma China, as Asia’s leading trade fair for the construction and mining machinery industry, is the most important platform to fulfill these needs.”
